A couple of weeks ago, I introduced you to my big brother Corey. I shared how I felt as I flew across the country to meet him for the first time in my life last year. If you missed that story, please click here.
Even after all the months that have passed since we first met, I’m still processing our first visit. I had 30 years without him as an active part of my life, and then I walked off a plane and saw a face the looked like mine, and who was related to me by blood. I’m still thinking about how to really describe that to you.
While I’m working on that story, I wanted to show you some pictures from our visit. These were all shot in San Diego, where Corey grew up and currently lives alongside his dad’s side of the family.
While I work on my post on getting to know Corey, here are some of the other things I’ve shared about growing up and my family.
Slow Pirouette For The Dancing Girl
Emma’s First Florida Christmas
“Birthdays Was the Worst Days…”
More to come …

Ok. So I missed the full story, but I just got really excited (and kinda hungry) when I saw your In ‘N Out pic. You … uh … *might* appreciate this post I did…

My wife is from the SF area and went to school at UC SD. We live in Salt Lake City and just had a few double doubles Animal Style Sunday night. Read that post again – yes – In ‘N Out is in the 801! Also, I’m reading the In ‘N Out book: http://www.amazon.com/N-Out-Burger-Behind-Counter-Fast-Food/dp/0061346713
That’s all I’ve got…

OH MY GOD! I love In-N-Out Burger. Would you believe my brother lived in SD most of his life and did not know about the secret menu? Even his grandmother knew about animal style! SO, I had to school him. :)
I go to San Diego often for my job and the weather is usually beautiful. My last trip there was New Years Eve where I was in the air at mid-night. It was 10 pm Pacific time when I landed, so I got to enjoy an hour or so before the next mid-night…cool. I have not been able to go to an In-N-Out Burger yet. I keep forgetting to take a drive just for the experience, which I hear is fantastic. Not sure why a burger can be that exciting, but it is at least worth a try. Emily, It must have been an emotional trip for you. I almost did a similar thing last November while I was in Chicago for work, by visiting a sister I never met. I decided to wait and bring my sister along, so we can meet her together. She is much older than us and has grand-children by now. Perhaps, this Spring we may go. By the way, great web-sites!
Thank you, Brett :)
this must have been so emotional and fun, I love the family spirit
